Why I created a Women's Boardshort Brand

How did Toosh come to life?

It happened after years of searching for a pair of boardshorts that simply didn't seem to exist.

I grew up surfing with my dad, who always encouraged me to wear boardshorts in the surf. The problem was, I could never find a pair that actually felt good to wear. If they fit my waist, they'd be too tight around my thighs and booty. If I sized up for a bit more room, I'd end up with a gap around my waist.

I kept buying pair after pair, hoping I'd finally find "the ones." I never did.

I spent a lot of time travelling around Australia. I'd head to the beach in the morning, stop for lunch somewhere, go for a coastal walk, jump back in the ocean to cool off, then end up at a pub for dinner.

I wanted one pair of shorts that could do all of it, not having to constantly change.

Something I could throw on in the morning and not think about again. Swim in them. Hike in them. Grab a coffee in them. Watch the sunset in them. No outfit changes. No wet denim shorts. No uncomfortable boardies that made me want to take them off the second I got out of the water.

Eventually I realised I had two choices.

I could keep spending money on products that never quite worked for me.

Or I could put that money towards creating the pair I'd been looking for all along.

So that's exactly what I did.

Toosh wasn't created because I wanted to start a swimwear brand. It was created because I genuinely wanted a pair of boardshorts that fit properly, felt comfortable, and could keep up with the way I like to spend my days.

If they could help other women feel a little more comfortable saying yes to another swim, another beach walk, another surf, or another adventure, then all the samples, testing and tweaking would be worth it.

Thanks for being here.

I can't wait to see where Toosh goes next!
